My Grandmother is really getting into jewelry making and loves to work with genuine freshwater pearls….I have found a couple of places that sell loose pearls in bulk or by the pound but they are rather expensive! Have you dealt with any certain company that you like or do you know of a good place for me to look? Thanks ahead of time!

I recently fell in love with this 21″ wheat-shaped pearl necklace at my local jewelry store, but the $150 price tag is a LITTLE bit out of my price range right now. I found the same pearls online, on a wholesale website, and it sells them in “Wholesale firecracker shaped pearls, 6-7mm firecracker shaped pearl strands.”

My question is, are these pearls on a strand that could be worn as a necklace, or is this purely for a jewelry store that is going to use the pearls to make a necklace (or bracelet, etc.)?

Are they much cheaper or something? As in, people say pearl necklaces are expensive but… would freshwater cultured pearls be considered more on the cheap, fake end? I know they are real, but…
