I know that you are not supposed to get water on pearl earrings because it makes them peel. However, I wear my pearls and do not allow them to get wet but they are still peeling. What else could cause this?

I want to make personalized jewelry using pearls and crystals and I know you could get them for cheap in bead stores. Any idea which stores in L.A. sell them?

Here is a detail of the earring. The earring is one pearl, around one centimeter in diameter surrounded with a thin piece of gold material. The gold material ends in a tear drop formation. If anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it. You could send websites or any other information that would help me out.

The problem seems to be that fake pearls dominate at retail outlets that I’m trying to sell wholesale to and brides either don’t know the difference or don’t care. The irony is that fake jewelry still costs an arm and a leg (as much or more than my genuine jewelry line) So… Part 2: How do I raise awareness without launching some huge expensive ad campaign?
