I know that you are not supposed to get water on pearl earrings because it makes them peel. However, I wear my pearls and do not allow them to get wet but they are still peeling. What else could cause this?

Here is a detail of the earring. The earring is one pearl, around one centimeter in diameter surrounded with a thin piece of gold material. The gold material ends in a tear drop formation. If anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it. You could send websites or any other information that would help me out.

I was wondering how much they cost. I went there just last week and looked at the “Pearls inside the shell” ones that you have to set into jewelry yourself, they were 14.99 each. I thought they were cheap and forgot to look at the actual jewlery pearls. I want to get them for my cousin, for her wedding, she always thought they were beautiful but are they real pearls? So do you know how much a set of blue pearl earrings are from there and what do you think of the quality?

i have been searching for a specific piece of jewelry and i finally found it in a you tube video of the home shopping network. however, i think it is sold out or discontinued because i can’t get it through them. if you search under “HSN 3piece cultured freshwater pearl calla lily sterling silver” something should come up. it’s earrings, a necklace, and a ring shaped like calla lilies with a pearl in the middle. if anyone knows where i can find a set or something similar please let me know!!!

My godmother brought me back a freshwater pearl bracelet from “sno of sweden” and I was wondering what anyone can tell me about the company? Do you know of a website where their jewelry is sold?

I purchased two rings from a department store and all that was indicated on the rings is that they were both sterling silver (they’re both stamped 925). One is too large, one too small, so I took them to a local jeweler, who immediately asked me if they were costume jewelry. I answered that I guessed they were, since one was silver/turquoise and the other silver/freshwater pearl, not anything fancy like diamonds or platinum. She said that they were rhodium plated and could not be sized.
I have done some research and understand why rhodium plated pieces are difficult or impossible to size, but what I don’t understand is how to determine if it even IS rhodium. She barely looked at them, and not very closely, and the only thing the sales lady told me was that they were sterling silver.
I know that rhodium plating is an expensive process, and between you and me, I paid less than $45 for each ring, so I have my doubts that they would be so inexpensive were they plated with rhodium. Could the jeweler have just been mistaken? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I found this website selling “wish pearls” (link below)
http://www.topearl.com/ap001-sample-akoya-wish-pearl-gift-boxes-with-6pcsus50pc-p-50.html
I think they would make pretty good presents
However, i do not know weather the pearls are real or if they are “cultured” or not . . . (i don’t really know what that means)
So if anyone could tell me a bit about pearl clarity it would help me out
Thank You

I just bought a black pearl necklace off of ebay for my wife. I bought them knowing that they were freshwater, dyed pearls which is fine. I received them in the mail today and they look more purple than they do black. The picture on ebay looked black. Is that how black pearls are supposed to look? My wife wanted black pearls for Christmas, but I don’t know anything about them. Purple is not one of my wifes favorite colors, so I’m not sure if I got the right thing or not. Doing a few searches online, I have found pics of some black pearls that look purple, but also some that really look black. I know that pictures on a computer don’t always reflect true actual color. Anybody have some black pearls that would like to chime in?
